16-Year-Old Crashes Parents' Minivan At High Rate Of Speed

An unlicensed 16-year-old was arrested after allegedly taking his parents' vehicle without permission and crashing at a high rate of speed.

The incident took place in Rockland County around 1:45 a.m., Friday, June 5, in Ramapo.

According to Ramapo Police, an officer was sitting at a red light on Viola Road at College Road when he spotted a 2018 Toyota Minivan run the red light at a high rate of speed, allegedly almost hitting the officer's vehicle.

The vehicle continued southbound on College Road. Soon afterward, the officer located the vehicle which had crashed into a tree when it failed to negotiate a turn onto Mountain Avenue. 

The teen suffered minor injuries and was transported to Nyack Hospital by Hatzolah Ambulance. 

He was later released to his father after being issued several tickets and ordered to appear in the Town of Ramapo Court at a future date.
